Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. A film about drought-stricken Homokhatsag, Hungary. When we step out of our familiar and narrow surroundings, when we deviate from our well-trodden paths, we find a completely different world outside than what we remember. Everything is wrong out there. We have chased away or exterminated living creatures, exploited the soil, and drained natural waters. We have long abolished traditional economic and cultural lifestyles that were capable of adapting to the environment and opportunities. We first conquered the landscape, then made it very sick. We have no idea what our own landscape, our own environment, looks like today. The astonishing and irreversible destruction we have done is of an unbelievably vast scale. We are responsible for the desertification of the lowlands and the mass extinction of living beings.
