The final touches are being made on the Belgrade-Budapest railway line, as the Chinese cargo railway is being connected to the Ferencváros marshalling yard. From here, Chinese goods will eventually be transported further west. I traveled the entire Belgrade-Budapest route to document the impact of this record-breaking expensive railway development on our cities and environment. This project is much more than just a railway. Logistics centers, construction sites, mining operations, and new assembly plants are emerging around these hubs. Budapest is surrendering vast areas to accommodate the needs of the arriving "Silk Road."
